Rock Talk 7/12 with Nocturnal Nation, Berch and Dan Magnum of Forever Endeavor Productions

July 14, 2009

kzrqrocktalklogo1Rock Talk, Z 106.7 FM’s weekly local-music radio show on Sunday nights, is all about bringing the unknown artist to the listener. Sunday night’s episode was all about never-been-on-the-show artists: Nocturnal Nation came by to talk about its upcoming Outland Ballroom show on July 18; new college-rock group Berch came by for two jaw-dropping acoustic performances ahead of their July 16 show at Nathan P. Murphy’s and the Four from The Four Four was comprised entirely of FourFour Fest submissions by artists who haven’t been played on Rock Talk before. In with the new, people!

Okay, there was once exception to the never-been-on lineup: Dan Magnum, head honcho of local showbringers Forever Endeavor Productions, returned to the program with a slew of upcoming must-see shows for local music lovers. It’s gonna be a huge summer. Hear it all by performing familiar clicking activities on the link below.

Major Show Announcement! Parkway Drive Returns October 2nd!!!

July 13, 2009

When we got a text from Dan Magnum at Forever Endeavor Productions, we flipped! Parkway Drive is returning in the same year! Thank God! If you weren’t one of the lucky 300 to cram into the Outland Ballroom the last time Parkway Drive came, then you were one of the couple hundred that got turned away at the door. That show goes down in our minds as one of the best shows this town has seen in a while—best as in, packed body to body, rockin’ and people going nuts the whole time. They’re returning, and with one hell of a band too…

Parkway Drive, Stick To Your Guns and My Children My Bride coming to Outland Ballroom April 17

January 28, 2009

parkwaydrivetourEven we’re a little taken aback by this one. Getting My Children My Bride back for a follow-up show two months after playing Springfield February 24 is pretty cool, but done before–Forever Endeavor scored similar back-to-back shows last year with Murder By Death, for example–but Stick To Your Guns? And Parkway Drive?! Parkway Drive!!! We even break out the rarely used multiple-exclamation point for this. We weren’t in attendace the last time PD came to Springfield, but we’ve heard things… amazing things. This has all the potential of being the hard-rock must-see of 2009. We’ve got a whole lot more about it after the break.

Rock Talk 11/23: The Past Returns with Scotty Dickinson and Dan Magnum

November 24, 2008

kzrqrocktalklogo1

For one night on Z106.7’s Rock Talk, it felt like it was 1995 all over again. Scotty Dickinson booking live rock bands in his club? Dan the Man (from Channel Z 104.7 FM, if you remember those days, or Dan Magnum today) on the radio?! Hey, isn’t the Urge (sorta) coming to town again soon?!?! It was like we were living an episode of Life On Mars, only it wasn’t the ’70s and there was no Gretchen Mol to be seen anywhere.

Anyway, Scotty dropped in to tell us about the High Life’s transition from dance club to the High Life Live Martini Lounge, with its new stage, sound and lighting equipment to welcome bands of all genres. Dan came by to let us know about Forever Endeavor Productions‘ upcoming shows, the most immediate of which is the sixth annual Dan Magnum’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Christmas on December 20 at the Outland Ballroom.

The full show follows after the break. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we need to dig up our Phunk Junkeez CD.

Benefit for local musician hit by car

October 13, 2008

We just caught word of this late last night from Dan Magnum of Forever Endeavor Productions. Tommy, drummer of A Day Away and Springfield’s famous drumming group The Cadence, was hit by a car…yes I said hit by a car. He’s hurt really bad and needs support from the music community to help him get by.

Fellow musicians to the rescue. A bunch of big names in the Springfield music scene are working together to put on a benefit show to help raise money so Tommy can pay some bills while he’s laid up.

Full show info, flyer, and A Day Away’s blog post after the jump…
