St. Louis’ own chart-topper Cavo was set to hit Remmington’s Downtown on Tuesday (October 13), but the show has been moved to the Outland Ballroom. The show also features St. Louisans Brookroyal and Springfield’s own Glass Bottom Boat Ride. This reduced and capacity significantly. With Cavo having a top 10 single on the radio this is sure to sell out. If you actually want to get in the door to see them, you’d better get your tix online NOW at Metrotix.com. We’ll see you there.

As of noon today (Thusday, October 1), Journal Broadcast Group changed the format of 106.7 FM. Z106.7, the main competition in the modern-rock segment with Q102.1 FM, has now been replaced with 106.7 The River. The River will be a jockless, music-intensive station that will play the largest variety of any station in Springfield, with songs spanning 5 decades from the 60’s to now. We have more details about the switch after the break.
***UPDATE: We’ve included the official press release from the station after the break, as well.***

So we’re pretty proud that we are finally getting to be able to help present shows. That’s a big step for TheFourFour and hopefully just the beginning. Well, being that we have literally around 20+ gigs of pics and vids to upload, we’ve had A LOT of requests that we posts the pics and vids form the Future Leaders of the World show last Thursday, July 23 at the Outland Ballroom. Click on through and see what I was able to upload on my lunch break. Trust us we have A TON more to share…and time permitting, we’ll have a tons of awesome vids to share over the weekend. Click though to check these out…
Dare I say it, but the “scene” is growing. That’s thank to a lot of hard work from bands, venues, and promoters. I mean seriously, look at all the freakin’ touring acts and national acts we’re getting now ‘a days—I’ve NEVER seen this many bands come through this town…EVER. So thank the promoters, venues, sound guys, bartenders, door guys, etc. Most importantly thank YOU for visiting our little site as often as you do (hopefully every day) and please keep it up. We’re needing a little help though. Chris and I are hard workin’ our day jobs due to lack of any cash, so there may be a little dip in posts here and there. That’s because we can’t spend hours and hours each day scouring the interwebs like we normally do. This is where we need your help. And we DO need your help. We think this is pretty important, so please click through and read on and pitch in.
Talk about shows…boy do we have a lineup tonight! You know, it used to be that in the middle of summer, there were maybe a small handfull of single shows worth catching over the entire summer. That is obviously no longer the case. As we keep trying to work in float trips and weekend escapes to go see some Cards or Royals games…we look at the lineups each weekend and are blown away as we once again cancel our plans and look forward to another night of amazing shows.
Tonight you get some of the best names in rock, metal, blues, and indie. We’ll get to as many as possible, but be assured…we’re planning on attempting to hit EVERY show on this list tonight!
- Emery, Maylene & the Sons of Disaster, Secret & Whisper and Kiros at Remmingtons Downtown (Be sure to get there EARLY…like 7. This show will be over by 11–most likely.)
- Chris Thomas King at Nathan P. Murphy’s. Chris Thomas King is a Grammy award winning blues musician (over 20 ablums), actor (Ray and O Brother Where Art Thou?) and revolutionized music with the genre-mashing creation of blues-hiphop in the early 90’s. If you want to see a true music legend in a very rare small scale show you only see in movies and hear about on VH1’s Behind the Music…this is your chance. Bring some friends for an extraordinary night. (Wiki) Not only do you get to see Chris Thomas King, but a local legend of sorts…King Clarentz!
- The Road Kings at Lindberg’s
- The Short Histories of Powerful Nations, Loose Lips Sink Ships and Washington Irving (one of the last chances to see Washington Irving) at The Outland
- Nocturnal Nation, Tripleshot, Taking Down Heroes and Archaic Deity at The Outland Ballroom
- DJ P at The High Life Live Martini Lounge
- Ben Miller Band and Jalopy at Patton Alley Pub
- Trash Angels at Archie’s Lounge

K, so lots of us like Weezer a lot. Why not knock off your weekly case of “The Mondays” with some. Next Monday is your chance. Not only are a bunch of local music vets coming together to do this, but if it goes well, they’ll do it again and again (hopefully). They’ll be playing a few “hits” but this is a show that anyone will like, but the hardcore Weezer fan will love because they’ll be focusing more on “album tracks” (you know, the “not radio hits” on the record that we all love).Details about the band and show… (more…)
