This year’s Sertoma Chili Cookoff is fast approaching–this Saturday starting at 11 a.m. to be exact–and you’d better be hungry. The Springfield Expo Center will be overflowing with booths from wall to wall waiting to assault you gastrointestinally with four-alarm meaty goodness. Between cups of chili and the absurd amounts of beer you’ll need to wash it down with, you might notice a healthy selection of bands serenading you while your colon corrodes–including one act on the schedule you may not ever get to see together again. Follow the full schedule after the break.
Beer Garden Stage (Upstairs)
10:45 am – 11:45 am Sequel Dose
Noon – 1:00 pm The Sociables
1:15 pm – 2:15 pm The Ben Miller Band
2:30 pm – 3: 30 pm Jah Roots
3:45 pm – 4:45 pm Speakeasy
Event Stage (Downstairs)
11:15 am – 12:15 pm N2 Deep
12:30 pm – 1:30 pm The Dropouts
2:15 pm – 3:30 pm Chance Ray Band
3:45 pm – 5:00 pm Cory Morrow
Note the appearance by The Sociables at noon at the Beer Garden Stage. We were told when the group announced its “indefinite hiatus” that it would honor the shows it had committed to prior to its decision to stop playing, and this is one such show. It might be the last chance you get to see them in action. You’ll also notice the Jah Roots–Speakeasy double whammy later in the afternoon. The music lineup should easily compete with the chili for your attention, and the music won’t make you fart.
