Your next chance to win tickets to It Might Get Loud: Tonight at 5 p.m. Watch The Twitters.

It Might Get LoudIt may be a little uncooth of us–when are we not uncooth, really–but we’re willing to bet you’ve never met Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page before. Or U2‘s The Edge. Or Jack White of The White Stripes and The Raconteurs. (It’s okay. Neither have we.) Consider Friday night’s premiere of It Might Get Loud at The Moxie an opportunity to get up close and personal with all three at the same time–something that had never happened before the documentary’s filming–all without leaving the comfort of your theater seat or having to do pesky things such as be introduced to the men first. The cost to get in if you’re an adult is $8… unless you win two tickets through our next giveaway, which is tonight at 5 p.m. on our Twitter feed. Be the first to answer the question correctly and you’re in the door for zero dollars. By the end of the night, you’ll know more about three of the most recognized guitarists in music than anyone not in the theater with you. It’s not “Hello, my name is The Edge, and you are…” but it’s pretty sweet nonetheless. Just try to remember not to act overly casual when you do meet them. Yo, Jack! What up, Jack! Long time, no talk, broseph!

Tunes On Film: It Might Get Loud coming October 16

October 5, 2009

It Might Get LoudThe alliance of music and film is taken a bit for granted these days, but let’s be honest: The two are inseparable. Take, for example, this, this and this. And that’s with omitting the way-obvious scene in Say Anything where new-wave-kid John Cusack proudly blares Peter Gabriel‘s “In Your Eyes” out of his ghettoblaster to woo his girl… something that no self-respecting new wave kid would have done, but we digress. (It’s not available online due to copyright restrictions, anyway.) The point is music and film are a match made in heaven, something Hollywood learned well in the ’80s and ’90s and that independent filmmakers have taken even further in the years since.

The latest example is coming to the Moxie Cinema screens a week from this Friday. (In other words, 10/16.) (more…)
