The Show Report, 7/21: Don’t Hurt my Sick Puppies!

July 21, 2009

SickPuppiesAdmat_sprng_gs1Tonight it’s FM Productions‘ turn to take the wheel and put on the night’s big show: Hurt, Sick Puppies, Tunnels to Holland and The Veer Union at Remmingtons Downtown. The Shrine Mosque gets quiet show-wise in the summertime–it’s an old building and hard to keep cool–but FM occasionally will put on a show in another spot and keep the ball rolling. It should be rolling quite well tonight–a summertime Tuesday, mind you. No tumbleweeds rolling through town this year, that’s for sure. Be at Remmingtons early for the 7 p.m. door time; there should be a pretty good crowd for this one.

Tonight you’ll also find:

* BIG local hip hop show at The Blue Room at Billiards of Springfield: AcuMen, MC Tommy P of The Spacetones, SincerelyYours, Rhyme University (from Columbia, MO) and Roots Of Mankind. A lot of show for five bucks, eh? Starts at 9 p.m.

* Open Mic Night at The Outland

* Blues Jam at Dennis’ Place

Rev Theory returns to Outland Ballroom May 18

April 20, 2009

thefourfourcomLocal production companies have been giving us a steady build-up in the number of popular-touring-band concerts in Springfield recently. While Korn and Girl Talk may be the crescendo–the year is still young, so we’re not holding our breath just yet–the schedule keeps getting better. The latest addition: FM Productions is bringing Rev Theory back to Springfield Monday, May 18 for a show with Cavo, along with locals Pillbox and As Of Now. Yes, two slots for local rock bands, and no slouches either. You can get tickets at all Metrotix outlets in Springfield–Stick It In Your Ear, Kaleidoscope, Vintage Stock, The Shrine Mosque box office and metrotix.com–and the doors will open at 8 p.m.

Thriving Ivory coming to Springfield March 5

January 28, 2009

No hard rock this time around. FM Productions and Hunt Industries are collaborating to bring piano-driven melodic pop group Thriving Ivory to Remmington’s Downtown March 5, with South By Southwest-bound Barcelona and Company of Thieves. After putting on the Disturbed/Sevendust show and the still-upcoming Clutch/Mudvayne show on Valentine’s Day at the Shrine Mosque, a lighter show could be just what the doctor ordered. Don’t expect a crowd any smaller than the aforementioned events, though; Thriving Ivory’s hit “Angels on the Moon” currently registers more than 10 million listens on the group’s MySpace page.
