Needless to say, it’s been a busy couple of weeks at FourFour HQ–whatever that is–so a few news items have inevitably slipped through our grasp as we’ve attended meetings and taken care of pressing matters, both on the website and off. However, we don’t want you to be out of the loop, dear reader, and some items are coming up on the horizon pretty quickly, so we want to take a moment to get you caught up. Following after the break is a rapid-fire collection of happenings in the music scene we want you to know about but haven’t had time to tell you about until now. The Show Report, 8/1: Washington Irving, we barely knew ye

Tonight marks the last show for local indie rockers Washington Irving, a farewell at Lindberg’s that also marks a return of sorts for Faatherton and the latest in a steadily growing number of concert appearances for the highly rated Ghost Dance. With singer Brett O’Neal leaving for law school in Illinois, Washington Irving hangs it up with one of the 2008’s best local albums under its belt and, hopefully, a fantastic farewell show to be remembered by. Good luck, guys.

We Are Like The Spider change things up a bit

Springfield already likes We Are Like The Spider a ton…now a lot more of Springfield is going to hear a lot out of the group. They said they were working on something new for last Friday’s show at the Outland with Black Box Revue. Well they did…click through for what’s up and a vid that even shows the goodness.

A local favorite returns to “the scene”

faatherton_fragrancedivineFor those that have been around for a while, you know Faatherton. The Camdenton-based rock group has been around for almost 9 years (9 year anniversary this August). They put some of their older music up on their MySpace and booked a show (except a few smaller shows last year, they’ve barely played in 3 years). We’re stoked, and if you know them, you should be too—if you don’t know them, go listen and hopefully you’re as stoked as the rest of us. Stoked.
