The Short Histories of Powerful Nations: Invading a music club near you

the-short-histories-of-powerful-nations-the-underground-42509-by-thefourfourcom-springfields-music-blogBolstered by the release of its long-awaited album A Brief Treatise On Land Ownership Vol 1, The Short Histories of Powerful Nations (pause for breath) is booking shows like we’ve never seen the progressive-intellectual-rock band do before. Lest you think we’re kidding, take a look at this schedule:

the Four Four Fest II Springfield, Missouri

Omitting the Nathan P. Murphy’s show September 15 and FourFourFest for the moment, the band is playing 13 shows in the month of August alone. It begins this weekend in Joplin, then stays in Springfield for four more dates (including an epic pairing with Knife*Death at The High Life Live Martini Lounge) before going on a seven-date jaunt throughout the Midwest before returning to their hometown August 29 to play with Fromanhole and Techlepathy. It’s quite the itinerary for a band used to playing more occasionally, but, then, there’s a record to promote now and it appears they’re going for it. Now the only thing left is a tour name… The Land Acquisition Tour? The Van of Whoopass Tour? Luckily, nobody asks us to name band tours…

I’ve long been a proponent of the HIStory Tour, especially now, considering the circumstances, but the Land Acquisition Tour is pretty good, too!

This is also Logan’s last month as a full-time member of the group, because he is going to radiology school and will be incredibly busy. We’re getting our money’s worth out of him!

He is going to stay around and play when he can in a more limited role, but will remain an integral part of the recording and writing process. We’re extremely selectively looking for another guitarist, but might just go with one guitar player sometimes until we find the right person.

    But thanks for the publicity!
