Wondered lately why you can’t get a table at Pappy’s Place barbecue joint (943 N. Main Ave.) on Monday nights? It’s simple: The Honkytonk Renovators, the new project of Domino Kings guitarist Steve Newman, brings such a following that, we’re told, customers have had to arrive as much as an hour early or more to get seating. Not a good thing when you’re craving brisket. According to the band’s MySpace blog, then, the group is moving its shows to Harlow’s (637 S. Kimbrough Ave.) to better accommodate its audience while allowing hungry Pappy’s patrons their shot at what’s on the menu. Of course, the determined will still find ways to do both; load up on barbecue at happy hour, then move to Harlow’s for drinks and music late. If you drink enough to where food sounds good again, of course, Harlow’s has a very able kitchen as well. Solutions! They’re a beautiful thing!
