The Show Report, 5/14: Watch out for space goo

Hide the children. Or put them in the front row. We really don't know which.

Hide the children. Or put them in the front row. We really don't know which.

GWAR almost defies explanation, but we’re going to attempt it anyway. Take one metal band, add bizarre, half-creature half-space costumes, a ton of props and blood-like oozing substances splattered around onstage and in the crowd and you have the raucous, outlandish mess that is a GWAR show. That mess is coming to Remmingtons Downtown tonight with opening acts Priestess and Cattle Decapitation (yes, that’s a band name), and you’d better be ready. All we’re saying is don’t wear anything you’ve had occasion to wear since 1992. Meanwhile, elsewhere in the Local Musicverse:

 * Honky Suckle and Cletus Got Shot at The High Life Live Martini Lounge. This show moved from The Outland Ballroom in order for the Ballroom crew to take extra sound equipment to Remmingtons for the GWAR show. As a result, DJ P will make his High Life debut next Thursday. In the meantime, let’s jam!

* Mark Bilyeu and Travis Linville at Patton Alley Pub. The last time we remember hearing of Mr. Bilyeu playing at Patton was as part of Blame Lord Killjoy last summer. Welcome him back!

* The Detectives at The Outland

* Levee at Lindberg’s. First time playing the room, and we guarantee it will rock. A lot.

* Art Bentley at Roadhouse Saloon

* Gas Pump Talent at Ebbets Field
