Hot Rock ‘n’ Blues concert series coming to Nathan P. Murphy’s

nateps_rocknblues09_logoIt’s understood in Springfield that when local colleges let out for the summer the touring acts stop coming through the city. It appears Nathan P. Murphy’s is out to buck that trend, assembling a diverse list of blues and rock acts–many of whom have played the club before–to keep crowds coming in when the weather finally turns hot. We’ve got the full confirmed schedule after the break.

Things get rolling Labor Day weekend with the return of guitar-slinging badass Wes Jeans on Friday, May 22. It’s the third time that Jeans has played Springfield in the last calendar year, but given his scorching playing style we don’t expect anything but a killer set. You’ll also recognize names such as Michelle Malone and The Lifeline from past concerts at Murphy’s, as well as Chris Thomas King, a former performer at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts. More concerts in the Hot Rock ‘n’ Blues series are expected to be announced soon, along with more information about ticket costs and door times. Keep an eye out.
