There was a terrifying three-or-so-minute period when we read Patton Alley Pub’s MySpace calendar where we had to scramble for info to make sure the bar wasn’t going all VH1 Classic on us. It’s not; this Brian Adams is not the man whose “Everything I Do (I Do It For You)” almost singlehandedly turned Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves into a soft-rock schlockfest, among other musical atrocities. (We’re exempting “Summer Of ’69” here, since it was a real attempt at rock ‘n’ roll. Laugh if you want, but admit it; you know the lyrics, too.)
Relieved at the news that it wasn’t that Bryan Adams, we still had the unanswered question of where we knew the name from… and we have a pleasant answer after the break.
Brian Adams–with an “i”–will be familiar to Springfieldians as a member of longtime local-music institutions Barefoot Revolution and Los Bastardos. Adams, now a musician and teacher in Boulder, Colorado, is coming back to Springfield May 9 with opening act Tiffany Christopher as part of Brian Adams and the Lunchbox All-Stars. See? A homecoming show is way better than hearing “Straight From the Heart” onstage while you pound Moose Drools.
