We have an unfortunate confession to make: We didn’t get to see Ha Ha Tonka perform at South By Southwest last week. The band performed as part of the Bloodshot Records label showcase Saturday in Austin, but attending an official label showcase requires money out the wazzoo for the official get-into-all-the-official-stuff wristband, and our wazzoo just wouldn’t accommodate.
We have, however, learned a couple of fresh details about the band’s forthcoming summer album release. Make appropriate use of your mouse or laptop touchpad on the link below to find out for yourself.
According to the band’s MySpace page, its latest album will be called Novel Sounds of the Nouveau South and will be released June 16. The title suggests it’s a progression from the band’s 2006 album Buckle of the Bible Belt which, considering that album’s success, can only be a good thing. The album also drops just in time for summer festival and tour season, something the band has had remarkable success with recently with shows such as its set at Lollapalooza 2008 in Chicago last July. Then again, the band just played SXSW, so it must be on a roll with festivals again this year, eh?
