As winter approaches–nay, is already here–many people are spending more time inside. The same goes for many local musicians, who are planning their winters to be spent inside a recording studio. We’ve compiled a quick roundup of which groups are up to what, as well as a notion of when to look for the finished recording. This list is by no means comprehensive, however; in fact, if bands read this and think to themselves, “Dammit, DeRosh skipped us,” feel free to give your own update in the comments. For everyone else, read on after the break and see what some well-known local names are up to in the coming months.
Vanessa Rose, formerly of One Star Story, has broken out on her own and is in the process of readying solo material. You can already hear some demo tracks on her MySpace page, but the finished product won’t see the light of day until next year.
Eddie Gumucio and the Electrics are ready to begin recording an album in January. If all goes well, Eddie says, it should be ready by summer 2009.
The Tall Dark and Handsomes have an EP in progress, which should be released late 2008 or very early 2009.
The Queen City Saints have completed their album. They remain tightlipped at the moment regarding details, but we’ll have more for you soon.
Lance Sitton & the Seed have completed their new EP, The Big Outside, and are planning the CD release show. More details forthcoming there, as well.

Cootey Coot will be headed into the studio sometime in January (pending our drummers healing shoulder) with one Mr. Jimmy Rae from such acts as the Arkamo Rangers, the Springfield Hot Club, G-14, and recently the Shotgun Brothers Band. We are planning a 10 song EP and were expecting to already be working on it.
